Vehicle Description
Up
for sale is a 1979 Trans Am. Roughly 114,000 miles on
the body, speedometer wasn’t working when I got it.
10,000 miles since restoration.
1979
Trans Am, restored in 2004. Full restoration was done
over a period of 2 years. Have all receipts for the
restoration parts including the engine work. Has the
Olds 403 CID and a TH400 transmission with 3.73 axle
gears.
Interior was gone through and has new carpet, seat pads
and upholstery, new headliner, a dash cap was put on,
and all plastics painted factory tan. All weather
stripping has been redone including door seals, T-tops,
doors, trunk. Door panels have been rebacked but are
original. Package tray was made with the same fabric as
the seats where upholstered with.
Exterior is still in fair condition. This car has lived
most of its restored life in Southern UT where it is
over 100* for several months a year, but there is no
snow. With this heat and sun the clear has started to go
away on the top section between the T-tops. The front
bumper has some scratches where someone backed into it
in a parking lot. Never saw who. Underside of the hood
and the trunk, inside the trunk where the latch is, all
door jams, under both front and rear glass, and under
all weather stripping have been painted and clear
coated. Car has been restored for almost 10 years and
has seen 10,000 miles so normal wear and tear with 10
years of age is the best way to describe its condition.
Transmission is a TH400. This is not an original
transmission but was chosen for its added strength. It
was fully rebuilt in 2003 by a local transmission shop
that did work for the shop I worked for at the time. Has
a 2,800rpm stall and is free wheeled with a Coan reverse
manual valve body and a B&M ratchet shifter.
Transmission does have a leak but mainly is from the pan
and a poor cork gasket. Would be easily fixed.
Engine is an Olds 403. The engine Machine work was done
at Clegg’s in Orem UT. Bottom end has been fully gone
through and balanced. Has 9.5:1 flat top pistons. Oil
pan is from the GM 350 diesel’s. This allows a factory
looking pan that holds an extra qt of oil. Heads where
fully gone through and ported new valve seats 3 angle
valve job etc. Cam is the Mondello JM-20-22 Cam. Intake
is a high rise duel plane manifold that has been port
matched and shaved to fit under the shaker hood. Carb is
a Holley 770 ported street avenger with vacuum
secondarys. Exhaust is Hooker super comp full length
headers and a full duel 3” mandrel bent exhaust with
Magana Flow mufflers.
Rear
axle has been gone through and rebearinged and resealed.
Has 3.73 gears with an Eaton 4 spring Posi traction
diff. Has new leaf springs at the time of restoration
and has the slide-a-link axle anti wrap bars.
For any additional
information on the car or any further details please

Asking $8,500 ***JUST LOWERED*** $7,000.00
